Re: [diesel_mercedes] Trish's Engine Woes

I will print this off for my To Do list.  Kevin is taking Friday off work to start on the car. We put it on a trailer & drug it to his work on Monday. That in and of itself was a chore.  Anything else I need to know about while the car is in parts?

The easiest thing will be to buy a rusted out or wrecked / thrashed interior 300SD of the same year spread as your Non turbo 300D as the
S Klaase chassis came with the turbo so it'll bolt right in , getting the whole junker car is cheaper and you'll have all the ancillary bits you'll find you need 1/2 way through the job .

It is really important to change the turbo oil return pipe's seals & grommets whilst the engine is out because they're hard to access with the engine in situ .

Also replace the water pump , they're cheap .

FWIW , your Mercedes Dealer can get the new ignition lock cylinder with matching key for only a few dollars more than the other Parthaus' sell it with rabdom keys .
