I, for one, am grateful for Nate being able to collect and trap all of the fungus out there, so that I can remain fungus free. Maybe it is Pasadena? Maybe it is his fuel depot? Or, maybe his neighbors sneak over and pee in his tank.

Nate,
How is it that you have all the fungus?
My 300D is idling rough, yet no chunks in the filter.
Need to order some diesel purge....

Oh , NO ! Posted by: "Nate" vwnate1@yahoo.com vwnate1 Date: Tue Aug 2, 2011 9:34 am ((PDT)) Here we go again..... =8-( . I was changing the oil & filter in my '84 300CD Sports Coupe and noticed the dreaded black chunks in my previously sparkly clean intake fuel screen..... !DANGIT! . So , I waited until to - day when I have less than 1/4 tank of fuel so it won't dribble all over when I remove it (the other plan would be to park facing uphill on a slope) , removed the screen and held it vertical as I tapped it , waited as the chunks of miniature coal settled out of the screen and into the intake nipple held firmly against my finger , waited some more , tapped it again , waited some more , eventually the chunks falling loose were *so* tiny they barely had sufficient weight to drift lazily downwards through the fuel so I blew it out backwards & called it good . Now I have to go buy another jug of Startron by Starbrite & begin dosing it at each fillup..... I only use branded fuels but I always have more dirty fuel problems than anyone I've ever met . _SIGH_ . -Nate
