Yuh caint shut down the vac system, it has the brake booster on it.
If the eng won't shut down with the lever under the hood, the lever must be broken, loose or some such, fix it before you move the car. Our 300 D wont shut down maybe twice per summer, swmbo has no prob opening the hood & pushing the lever.
BTW the first place I would look for vac probs is the brake booster, the second is the check valve on the vac pump, either one can be fixed in under an hour.
