 I assume they will/should/might fit most any spring

btw ...  is there any interchange for a rear coils pring that can be used in a  4 door '84 300D w123 sedan?
   or must the springs be specific to the vehicle    say, could rear rear springs from a 300D (or other #) station wagon or car fit, and perform well on this sedan?

       another ?  what is with the different sized shims?  I see them in 14mm  19mm  etc.
 any benefit, or need, to use one size vs another?
