Mercedes Benz's famous diesels are renowned for their reliability and here's a chance to own a rare Euro wagon. First imported from Germany by the original owner this wagon has a number of options that are rarely seen on USDM wagons. These include:
The desirable manual climate control system
Euro bumpers (rear remains on the car, the front bumper was replaced with a USDM unit when the car was federalized.)
Adjustable headlights
Manual windows
No Sunroof
Cloth interior instead of MB tex
European market injection pump
In the past three years that I've owned this wagon I've rebuilt the entire brake system, including new seals in every caliper, replaced the vacuum pump with a rebuilt unit, performed regular valve adjustments and oil changes, and replaced the transmission with a rebuilt unit. I've also installed a set of new tires, and cleaned and detailed the interior, replaced the hatch struts.
In the past several months I have had the transmission serviced and the flex lines to the cooler replaced, repaired the vacuum lock system to make sure that all the doors lock and unlock correctly.
The wagon is a good driver at the moment, although some cosmetic improvements would really make it shine. The previous owner damaged the driver side door, and I replaced it with a non-matching door. Additionally, the clearcoat on the hood and the roof is damaged, but otherwise the body is in excellent condition. There is a small tear in the driver's seat, but otherwise the interior is in great shape for its age. It does have an aftermarket CD player installed, which does work.
It's an excellent road trip car, I've frequently driven it between Los Angeles and Sacramento, and while it doesn't get the 40MPG that many people claim, gas mileage is still in the 25MPG range while cruising on the freeway.
These wagons are getting more and more popular as people realize what great cars they are. Here's a chance to pick up one of the most unique MBZ wagons on the road. I've driven and seen hundreds of these cars, and I've never seen another one in the this country with the column mounted shifter.
