Well, unless you're talking about a numbers-matching, '57 fuel-injected Corvette, there's no sense or reason to keep the original transmission if that  transmission refuses to operate correctly.  These are mass-produced cars, after all, and that transmission was not made solely for that specific car.


If you need another transmission, I still have the one out of the '83 TD I parted out a dozen years or so ago.  It came out of a car that was totaled, and drove/shifted just fine.  I'm in Centennial; the transmission is near 68th and Washington.  I'll let it go super cheap....

Another 20 years.
Quality of the drive is important.
My understanding is that there is nothing like the original transmission for a vehicle.
My concern is by abandoning it I may regret it.
