The Mercedes Vacuum Shifting Valve (VCV) is just a mechanical logic controller; can't be changed.
A programmable logic controllers (PLC) can be programmed to mimic the VCV.
I feel better now. 😊 Bill in Oregon

Abstract
The advantages and limitations of using programmable logic controllers for vacuum plant are reviewed and it is concluded that they are suitable for many applications. However, they are not widely used, and it is suggested that this is because ladder-diagram programming is unfamiliar to the current generation of vacuum system designers. Examples of such programmes are given.

Course Description
Covers the theory and practice of vacuum as used in semiconductor manufacturing. Topics include vacuum principles, vacuum systems and their components such as pumps, gauges and valves, and finally vacuum trouble- shooting. Prerequisites: MT 101, MT 102, (MT 103 or MT 104), CH 100 or higher, WR 121, or instructor permission. Audit available.

Subject: [diesel_mercedes] Vacuum Shifting Valve
The back story: When I left Mary (1983 w123 300d) in So. Cal. to get her rebuilt engine installed, I was on a tight schedule to get from the airport to pick her up and start the drive back to Washington. The jr. mechanic mumbled something about "they don't make these anymore so it will shift a little hard." I did not pay as much attention as I should have - what he was showing me was the Vacuum Shifting Valve (VCV) which was used on 1980-1984 w123's and w126's. See video https://mercedessource.com/store/1980-1984-diesel-transmission-vacuum-shifting-valve-vcv-tested-instructions-included
Ok - I need to find one and install it. Any of you have one laying around anywhere? They really don't make them anymore, so it means finding a good used one, or rebuilding one (hard to do).
