Does that model have a electronic or mechanical speedo?
I know the 1985 SD is electronic.

Yesterday, the speedometer in my wife's 1980 300sd began acting strange. The speedometer lagged far behind the actual speed. It did eventually reach what seemed like the correct reading but could not tell for sure. As I slowed down, the needle went down very very slowly. This same thing happened today. Thought that I might try putting some graphite in the cable. It does not jump or do anything erratic. Any ideas? Thanks.
