Why did you buy plastic fittings?

I bought some pneumatic fittings at one of the "discount" sellers and installed them on my compressor. Well last Saturday one of them shattered and sent pieces of plastic all over the place; thankfully, my eyes were not one of those places. I am mentioning this only for your safety as I believe these are dangerously sub-standard, not to otherwise denigrate the business. Good health to all
