You'd best by pass it for now and get ready to do some serious citric acid cleaning before the EVIL SERVO FROM HELL dies and pukes all the coolant while she's driving and ruins the engine .

We have a problem with my wife's 1980 300sd leaking coolant. Yesterday, she called and said that the car was was overheating. After numerous stops to refill with water, we finally got her home. Found that the water was coming out of what appears to be an overflow tube on the passenger side of the firewall. This tube is 1-2 inches wide and outlet is made to remain closed but will allow fluid to come out if needed. Don't know how water could get from a closed system into this "overflow" tube. My Haynes book does not show anything and I could not find any pictures/diagrams on the internet. Any suggestion or advice on how this works or how to fix this problem would be appreciated. Thanks Tom.
