[diesel_mercedes] Sway Bar Bushings # 2 [5 Attachments]

First Pic. shows the plastic cover removed and crumbled , the small square hole to the rear is where the latch part snaps in , you reach this from underneath and *gently* push it up 1/4" max. to release it .

The bolts in the leading ends of the sway bar are 17MM ATF and ire *very* tight ~ use a ring spanner or shallow six point socket on a flex handle , be ready to sweat a  lot on this job , I certainly did .


Mercedes says to remove the brake booster but that's a whole lot of work , I just ever so carefully unplugged a few wires and lifted them out of the way , the relay panel easily unscrews with one 8MM ATF screw then it too can be lifted out of the way ~ you're going to be reaching your hand in between the fender and brake booster so anything done to ease this is wise .


Pic. # 2 shows the tool I used to reach the 13MM ATF nut on the top of the left sway bar bushing clamp ~ it's _behind_ the brake booster and cannot be reached by a hand wrench .


Pic. # 3 shows this tool in use .


Pic. # 4 shows removing the lower left bracket nut , same tool but used above .


Pics. # 5 and 6 show the easy access to the passenger side sway bar clamp's nuts .


That's it for now , you'll have to remove both front wheels so be sure and safely block the car up as it's HEAVY and will KILL YOU if it falls .


More soon as I get back to it , I need to work on Tom's hearse fro All Hallow's Eve this Saturday .
