See how the 8th one down has a grey screen instead of the yellow(ish) one ? that's the crappy one that Tom got stuck with .
Hopefully he'll see this and order up the good one for $16 including free shipping .
IMO ; _everyone_ here *needs* one of these to avoid getting stuck ~ as soon as it goes below 13 V when you're driving , go home or to the garage for repairs , you needn't get your hands dirty nor stuck with a bum alternator .

Because both Tom and I got blindsided by this design failure , we both now have a " INNOVA " brand voltmeter that plugs into the cigarette lighter socket and provides both battery voltage and charging rate .
I found it at Wall Mart IIRC , mine is back lighted so it's useful at night , Tom's isn't so read the packaging carefully .
About $20 IIRC ..
I also bought one else where , it has red LED numerals and the plug is on the end of a long thin wire so you can stick it to the dash board and not have to look down to see the charge rate .
FWIW , I think these are very useful items .

I guess the drive on the freeway to the mechanic must have loosened something up. Maybe the brushes had to wear in a bit. By the time I got home it was at 13.45vdc. I'm keeping my volt meter with me though. I'll be testing it quite frequently until I'm sure it's not a fluke......Fluke tests for flukes. Lawrence Rhodes .
