Another place to check is to make sure the turbo is spinning.  The oil around the bearings can leave deposits and cause the shaft to seize.  It's more likely to occur in cars that aren't revved up enough to get the turbo spinning and the oil flowing through it.

You can check that the turbo is spinning by removing the big U-shaped hose between the turbo and the air filter, and start the car.  You should see the compressor fan spinning, even at idle.  If it is, it's good.

Ray, my poor mountain climbing experience has always involved clogged fuel filters (parafin build ups for me). I always change mine annually since I got stranded one night on the side of the road.
