Yes, I have taken them apart before. Once they seize up, it is a sign that lubrication won't solve the problem; i.e. they are binding up. Easy to change and cheap to buy, so after 30+ years I have no problem changing them out. On the first one I took apart some years ago, I squirted oil, grease, magic powder, etc., but it was off track and no juice would put it back.
