They usually weld the differential solid for drifting.  You also can weld it for traction.

I welded my plow truck differential.  It pushes in a straight line well.  As you start turning a corner, the lack of a differential causes the tires to break free from the road.  The outside tire goes further, inside less distance.  The result is drifting on all corners without using the engine to break the tires free.

If you travel the roads, it's unsafe.  You don't have control in the corners.
