[diesel_mercedes] Re: The dreaded cruise control.

Tom, the one that was in the car '83 300D when we bought it was a stamped 6.83 and the second set of numbers (which I am told is the set that counts) is 0015457932.
I replaced it with a 38/86 0035458632. which worked for a couple of months. The one from the bear wagon is out of an 84 I do not have the numbers off it, but I am told that any 80 - 85 300D series will work. Am also informed that the actuator can cause failure in the amplifier module.
Tony.
A tip for removing the amplifier;
The amplifier is held onto a bracket with two phillips head screws, one of them is almost impossible to get at. The bracket is held on by a 10mm bolt Just undo this bolt - 1/4" ratchet with a3" extension and the bracket drops allowing easy access to the screws. The 10 mm nut on the bracket is welded so you only need one wrench. I cant get both arms in there anyway.
