And I live in an un air conditioned house too .
Last October , the wind came up and removed most of my roof so I had it re done in a single coating foam membrane typ of stuff , sprayed on about 1" thick then painted over with a glossy white stuff as a UV barrier .
Already I can tell the difference , it's *much* cooler in my house than it used to be on sunny days .
Yesterday Tom and I were out in Sun Valley buying new work clothes and I noticed the 1930's sharecropper's shack still in use on that property , had it's sloped shingle roof also painted in that white stuff (NOT the foam) ~ the shingle roof was prolly installed during the Cuban Missle Crises and so looked pretty rough & bumpy but , the white coating will no doubt help make life tolerable inside instead of the living hell most of us older folks suffer with .
I just throw this out there as I'd wanted to give it a try for many years and I'm glad it works as I'd hoped .
Less heating cost in January too ! .
