[diesel_mercedes] Re: A Mercedes beef.

I did like Brian said and threw away the plastic tops and bolted a foreign coin onto each side of the top of the key (the top of the key has a hole in it already - use that). That left a gap between the two coins which I filled in with silicone glue. I drilled a large hole through the other side of the coins to put it onto my key ring. You have to pay attention to the way you put it together so it will fit into the ignition switch once you have it all put together. Mount the key so the shoulders of the key are just sticking out a bit from the edge of the coin. You could use washers or anything about the size of a US quarter. I used lock-tite or equivalent on the bolt and nut that I used to hold it together, and then cut the extra bolt off and filed the whole thing down smooth. I have done four keys that way. Works great.
