It's a sign of the times that we are living through, but in cites beggars are popping up everywhere. I thought I would relate to you their latest technique to pry you loose from your hard earned money in hope that you will be better prepared than I was to their willy ways.
So this guy comes up to me as I am making my way into a store. He is holding an empty gas can, ask me for a dollar, says he is out of gas. I hesitated, but then gave him a dollar. I did not feel good about my donation because something told me that I had just played into a scam.
Not quiet into the store I needed to walk past this person with no legs sitting quietly in his wheel chair just at the entrance. He made no attempt to solicit anything, yet I found myself giving him a 20 and feeling entirely good about my donation.
After a little while in the store I made my way back to my car, and just on the other side of the parking lot I saw the guy with the gas can, running up to some other unprepared person with the same story he had used to fleece me. I was not happy to watch this repeat performance.
So, don't say you have not been warned about these donations that you can be compelled to make that leave you feeling empty and taken.
