I can't remember - does the SD have the same manual "idle speed" adjustment knob that my 240D has?  Partially depressing & holding the accelerator pedal while turning the knob fully counterclockwise, then releasing the pedal and cranking when the glow plug light goes off always fires mine right up.

Alrighty...the fine tuning continues!

What I have been doing is 3 full cycles, then glowing again only until the light goes off and cranking with full pedal until all cylinders fire (fairly quickly I *think*) then backing off throttle until JUST enough fuel for a purr until warmed up. No revving results, and hopefully my plugs have stayed hot.

NOW...I'll try what you say below...one full cycle, plus the light cycle, then 1/2 throttle.

I don't want to be wearing and tearing more than I have to!
