It began early when my old trucks carby died beyond repair late thursday night and then Tom called to say he'd rolled down both driver's side windows on his '81 W-126 300SD , now they refused to consider rolling up again , could I maybe have a looksee at it Saturday ? .
I'm sure his rendition of the fun I had taking both doors apart and discovering the baboon who'd replaced both lifts before had left parts out and mangled things so it's not surprising they both failed again , will be far more informative than my babbling , it includes hot Pastrami sammitches & chili fries , working in the filthy greasy dirt ground Pick-A-Part Junkyard in the rain , a surprise chance finding of a '72 Chevy Nova base model Coupe with a 230 CID engine scattered into about 7,000 pieces (some of which my old Chevy truck *sorely* needed) , old friends dropping by and commenting how much he hates working on doors too , discovering Mercedes has re designed the windows lifts at least THREE TIMES and they _still_ fail without warning ....
A W-123 with both Euro bumpers in nearperfect shape on it (I was too busy to grab 'em) , on and on and on...
Suffice it to say that I was *so* tired by the end of my 18 + hour Saturday ,I was able to actually sleep almost 6 hours....
