Re: [diesel_mercedes] Fuel Additives & Snake Oils : MMO

I remember that test. But it works better than most additives. It must have a cetane improver,Btu improver, and lube.I use on gas engines also for mileage. Also to thin 15w40 for winter driving. The only thing better for mile was half diesel and half used AFT.

Someone posted a (very good) lab test of the top 10 or 15 additives some months back. I do use MMO all the the time but was surprised that it finished in the middle of the pack for lubricity, behind the winner - one of the Diesel Kleens. And some Lucas product was also near the top. MMO and the others are available in gallon sizes at O'Reilly and probably others if you want to save a buck or two.

Does anyone know/suspect what the principal ingredient in MMO is? I
know it is very black which would make one suspect "colloidal graphite"
which fills pitted valves, keeps all metal to metal contact to a minimum
and adheres to metal surfaces. I have used a similar product for 40
years that I know contains colloidal graphite and is no longer available
so I make my own version.

I have never used MMO but it is starting to sound very good.
