I have some pretty pure, clean and nice fuel also. Makes me hungry and the dogs follow me everywhere.

be very careful what kind of prophylactics you put in your fuel tank some of them are better applied in the back seat.Prophylactic is a good word. I have the cleanest, purest, nicest diesel fuel - and I am going to get some more tomorrow at $4.37 / gallon. Gosh, a barrel of oil was $29 for decades - who is getting the extra $70 nowadays. One of you smart guys take a $100 bill and tell me whose pocket is getting the pennies, nickels, dimes. I think there are a lot of pockets, but who is getting how much.

Subject: [diesel_mercedes] Re: Sylvia - '84 300 SD - update + auto shift knob question + tow hitch suggestions?
The shift knob comes off after you carefully loosen the 13MM nut on the base of the shifter .
Cetane booster is good , very good as it'll pay for itself in increased mileage .
Start Tron is for fungus , keep an eye on the clear intake screen and use it at the first hint of dark fuel , or just add it every fourth fillup as a prophylactic measure .

Some folks report 50+ MPG w/ tail wind, 1 pax, etc...I've been using StarTron from fill up #1 and mile 101, is there any reason NOT to do this given it's a "new diesel"? I see no reason why not, in fact it's probably more important than before. Also adding CEtane boost - same recipe as for the 27 yo hulking 300 SD sitting next to it. Bavaria vs. Wolfsburg :^)

After a test drive, we both agreed - the Jetta TDI is an entirely different breed of diesel to be sure. Ultimately what sold us was 6th gear.....it does 70 MPH @ just about 1500 RPM in a strong headwind.
