Nah, the one on the right is the double-diaphram style, used on the earlier (and so, generally, non-turboed) diesels, AND was the original unit on my '79 SD. The one on the left is the piston type that is now pretty common in the yards around here, because there simply AREN'T any pre-80 cars in the yards right now. The nice thing about the earlier unit is that it's still rebuildable for relatively cheap ($25 for two diaphram kits), whereas the kits for the piston type are over $100 and were not available last time I checked (in October).
It was in October that I submitted a rather comprehensive (and, admittedly, lengthy) post on my findings on these pumps. 'Guess nobody read it.... (Insert pity party here.)
