I did exactly that Brian. The head going back on it is off the '80 SD,
been at the shop for a couple weeks now and getting all done up pretty.
Prechambers too! Hopefully have it back this week.

I was more curious on the group's take on the evidence on the '79 after
I pulled the head. The frontmost cylinder (#1?) was totally carbon
covered. The others, not too bad. Still can see the writing on top of
the pistons which surprised me. That and the block was uberclean which
made me thing this was a fairly fresh motor. The headgasket blew and
I'm guessing it was on this #1 cyl. The rust on the cam and on the oil
rail was surprising though.

Just wondering what everyone thought of the pics and should I be doing
anything whilst I have the head off?
