Re: [diesel_mercedes] Re: 77 240D motor mounts

Das ist richtig. And give up on those used motor mounts Lawrence - not worth the effort. Autohaus (and many other places) have them for +/- $20.00. Just do a google search on w123 motor mounts or go direct to Autohaus.

on the 300sd, the procedure I used was jack up car onto stands, loosen (take out) center bolt of motor mount from bottom, jack up engine using wood against oil pan, which loosens metal cover over top bolts. loosen top bolts (this is where I got stopped see below) replace mount, reverse instructions to secure everything. I used a broom handle to nudge the engine into the correct alignment to secure the bolts, mainly the bottom one. If I find what I paid for the mounts, I will post.

my indy mech said to do one side at a time.

I was trying to replace the oil cooler lines at the same time, and could not get the bolts securing the lines to the engine off. I needed some different tools, and time ran out for the day. So when the weather gets warmer, I will try again.
