They have these neat little aluminum finger protectors at CVS and Rite Aid (etc) that I have used on various fingers over time. You can't bend the digit at the joint, but they keep you from going "ooowwwiiieeee" 10 timnes a day.

No it's _not_ funny , this was very apparent last night when I had to
go to the store and buy Saran Wrap and rubber bands & wrap my thumb
before I could bathe and again this morning when I attempted to get
dressed...
