I started my generator the other day to exercise it and to run the
small electric compressor while I checked tire pressure.
Up to now, the generator would start providing AC after about 1
minute. My indication is that the microwave panel lights up. Once it
says "reset" there is power available at all the AC lights and
receptacles.
Today, the microwave light came on, but I had no power to my AC
lights. They would momentarily flicker When I turned them on and then
go off. Finally, I turned the generator off, waited a few minutes and
turned it back on. Same pattern for about 3 minutes and then the
lights came up.
I've been running it periodically in about 20deg F. weather. TItwas
60deg. when I had the problem, so I don't think it was a warm-up
issue.
Could this just be a sticking relay somewhere, or something more
ominous?
One other thing. The generator needed more cranking than usual to
start.
