I'm down to three now, I really don't need them all but my Sweet's fond of her 300TD and I can't *quite* decide between the coupe and 240D.....

I agree, a smaller alternator pulley is the easiest way to better charging .

Older MoPars tend to have small pulleys and the shafts size is fairly standard making that work a look at your local P-A-P .

Remember too that going to a BOSCH voltage regulator *instantly* upped my changing voltage .

I now have another BOSCH P/N that may provide even better charging but, 14 VDC is plenty, too high a voltage tends to use up bulbs and makes relay contact points wear a bit faster too .

No matter what look at your voltage regulator and see who made it .

I hope the HELLA branded one is O.K. .

? Did you need to replace the brake rotors ? .

I've had good luck in finding new disc brake rotors on junkers, they're not very expensive new these days .

My 240D is beginning to make some rumbling vibration under load, I'm sure it's the drive axle with the torn boot clamoring for attention .

Up front nosies are often easily diagnosed by removing the drive belts.....


To - day is SWMBO's 77th birthday, she's in court for a goodly portion of it then I'll take her out and so on  .

I only dream of 14.2 Volts at idle. I'm looking at a smaller pulley to get some juice at idle.

I try not to look at the cost of keeping my MB, yet 15yrs in, on a 35 yr old car, it's bound to cost a bit.

This weekend I was trying to stay away from car work, yet my wife's Volvo 245 decided to go metal to metal on the brakes, as well as the struts loosening up in the assembly, so that ate today.

As for my MB noises, I think Bill's right, my center bearing is going out, though the axle still has problems, it's not making the noise. There's another noise up front when cold, which I need to figure out, maybe after I change out the center bearing. One noise at a time.
