Nate, with crud in the IP don't you just Diesel Purge?
When I've done this in the past a bunch of fine crud comes out of the IP injector lines etc.

Low fuel lamp lit @ 415 miles, 440 miles total, 23.1 MPG .
Biobor used and the AC run almost constantly this tank full .
The added paper element filter in the fuel return hose had turned black again with *very* fine (like flour) black, nothing stuck to the inside of the clear plastic and the primary intake screen remains clear and clean leading me to believe the remaining fungus crud is in the IP or somewhere in the fuel system under the hood .
I replaced both this added filter (WIX # 33002) and the spin on secondary filter (OEM Mann), filling the secondary filter with undiluted Biobor before screwing it into place then adding the usual dose of Biobor to the fuel tank when I filled it .
The engine runs strong now, still smokes too much (greasy haze on the left rear bumper and cove) but, it also goes 85 MPH with less than 1/4 throttle so we'll see how it goes .
Thanx to a lister here I was finally able to get the correct sized 2-1/2" body plugs for the back of the car where the U.S. spec. bumper shocks used to go, this should slow down and maybe even halt the exhaust fumes that have been drafting into the car for a few years now ~ I recently removed the interior and carpets to give everything a really good scrubbing and the amount of greasy black crud every where was sobering, I still need to clean the headliner but the rest of the interior is now nice, I even removed the rear seat belts and cleaned them, found an undamaged driver's side sun visor and installed that (still looking for a Palomino Coupe DS sunvisor, hint) .
I also cleaned up and installed the much better steering wheel I found on a junked 1982, it's noticeably thinner where you grip it than is the same P/N original one on my 1984 .
Boy howdy those seats get heavier as you age out and the day wears on.
