That's a good idea .
Yes, the diaphragm is leaking so I don't see any point in external cleaning, I'm going to have to open 'er up and see what's what .
This may not be possible this week though .

I set my air compressor at 10 psi and injected some ether into the waste gate hose and pulsed it with the air compressor. After a few cycles, I could hear the diaphragm cycling. I used ether because there is only a small drain hole on the front side of the diaphragm and I didn't want to load it up with a penetrant that might not drain out. At least a good wet shot of ether will
disolvee crud and then evaporate.
