Re: [diesel_mercedes] Alda Adjustment ?

I still have two great running 240's for sale.. Both have strong engines, I am second owner of one and third of the other(car went from a father to son to me), both California  cars. Both could be driven to NY and back with just a little common sense check over's. Why buy a piece of shit when you can buy good running cars for cheap? Max

O.K., I replaced the secondary and return line fuel filters last night, I pre filled the secondary (spin on) filter with Biobor, lit it off and revved the engine a bit to clear out any air bubbles, the car now idles pretty smoothly and runs like a scalded cat as it used to years ago .

I got 415 miles before the low fuel lamp went on and filled up at 440 miles, adding more Biobor to the tank as a

prophylactic measure .

To - day's question is ? with way to turn the ALDA adjusting screw to lean it out a little bit ? .

The fuel economy remains low @ 23.1 MPG's, this injection pump came off a very clean wrecked 1985 300SD and the ALDA has clearly been touched before ~ maybe someone richened it up to make that big heavy car faster .

I remember some here fiddled with this a while back and said a 1/16th turn of the adjuster screw made a big difference ~ I'm pleased with how well the car runs now (80MPH @ 1/4 throttle) but it's still smkin more than I want along with low fuel economy .

Thoughts ? .

TIA,

-Nate
