Often just flushing them well will do the trick .
They're marked in the casting whether Bendix, Girling or Ate ~ smooth ones are typically Chinese copies of recent manufacture .

Ok, finally got the piston unstuck. Never did that before. I had to take it off the car, put it in a vise and use two big c-clamps. Still really hard, I had to use a pipe for leverage and finally with a pop and a squirt(of course it got me) it broke loose. I know I should re-build the calipers but I just want to stick pads in. I hope I don't have to do what this video shows, but I feel like Kent, new calipers are very spendy. https://youtu.be/qc4zlGaJgoA . I do have the pop tester and it looks pretty cool. But look at his shop. You probably lick the floors. My shop does not look anything like that, but I got a better view. Anyone else got ideas for stuck pistons? Max PS, How can you tell what type of brakes your car has? Like Bendix or whatever the other type is?
