Yesterday I reached 430 miles and the low fuel lamp came on , I continued to my Brother's house Where he had 2 gallons of Gasoline needing discarding so I poured it into my nearly empty fuel tank hoping to shock kill any thing left in there , my clear plastic primary fuel screen has remained clean for several months but then I had the IP's elements out for timing I noticed too much really fine black bits in there so I figured what the heck .
Leaving his house I didn't notice any difference in engine running / power / smoothness but I did notice a lack of smoke as I pulled away from dead stops ~ I was hot footing it to try and run the IP's rack wide open to facilitate cleaning , I'd get a blast of gray (fuel) smoke that stopped as the turbo spooled up and the car really began to move out .
This morning the was a fog upon L.A. so I was very cautious driving until I passed mid - city , then it cleared up crystal clear so I stamped the accelerator to the floor and the car leapt forward , flew past all the other traffic and reached 103 MPH before beginning to run out of steam .
At that point I was closing in on other traffic to I backed off , worked my way through the knot of cars and floored it again , no visible smoke in their headlights as I rapidly pulled away and reached 100 MPH again .
By the time I reached Work the low fuel lamp came on again , I think I'll run it dry , add the spare fuel I hope I have in the trunk then motor directly to a filling station and tank up .
At that point I'll check the intake fuel screen for debris and silt , see what I have .
