Re: [diesel_mercedes] Re: Clink , Thump , OH ~ SH*T !

Actually the 2 rubber bushings on each side of the torsion bar are about $3 each the inner and outer ends come as part of the upper arm.  The upper control arms are about $40 each.  I'd do both sides.  I paid a mechanic $160 to put them in, but I probably could have done it myself.  BTW if the bolt that holds the bushings doesn't look like its ready to fall out, be very careful.  My mechanic broke one, luckily he claims, far enough in so that he could get a shorter bolt to hold.  It should be possible to get the broken bolt out of the tubular end, but it wouldn't be much fun.  After that an alignment would be a good idea.

Interesting. My wife leaves for 2 weeks tomorrow and I considered having Victor do a complete front end overhaul on Mary (my car) while she was gone. He did the same job on Martha last year (I saw that he bought a "kit" of some sort to do it). Anyway, if you excel at the job I will let you do mine too. Take lots of pictures. I am really happy with the job he did on Martha - her front end is as tight as when she came off the line.
