The rain was only for that day , very heavy then it cleared out .
Didn't help our drought at all but the reduction in dust was nice .
I've been looking for the squeak sound before the car failed , for a long time ~ over a year and even paid several Shops to have a look , no one found anything amiss ~ after it failed I can't see how no one say it failing , not even I but I looked at it the day before the bolt came out and didn't see anything amiss .
Go figure .
I don't think a newer car would stand up to the typ and amount of driving I do , nearly as well as do my oldies .
I did see the goats in the pic , I thought them eating the brush was a good thing , this last message makes it sound bad...? .

Gees Nate,
One of these days you are going to kill yourself.!!!
You are precious package , as is Shirley.!
You have to keep up with maintenance on your old cars if that's all your going to drive.

Seriously!!!.
You too Tam.!
You're always, both of you, writing about going places fun, but have theses horrible car problems that can kill you along the way. Whether around LA, or the mountains, or up north, where it took so long to fix, a nice man gave you a beach umbrella s y'all would die of heat stroke this summer you were out there so long.
Please, please be careful. You always,Nate, make it sound funny, but you can tell by Amity and I, that we are worried for your safety.😦😦
OK, enough of that. I am amazed at your skills, for sure. How's the rain ??? It's good for you, yes??
We are getting the end of Patricia today, tomorrow and on and on for at least a few more days.
Pearl and I went hiking 4 miles in sprinkles with my Tuesday group this am. Only four people showed up. We had a good fast hike. Then the rain got harder and harder ,so we made a right turn said high to the goats, and left.
Did anyone see the picture of the goats standing behind us I sent last week?? They are munching down the climbing and spreading unwanted brush all around the park.
In the picture there's a few black goats right in the middle of everyone. You have to zoom it up. Then look to the bottom rt and seexPearlstanding on her hind legs. She's wearing as lavender sweater. It was cold that morning.
Bye for now.

Shirley and I were driving up the I-405 freeway this morning when I heard something go 'tink' as it fell loose then it bumped the bottom of the car as it went under neath , then the steering wanted to make a sharp left turn .Good thing we were in the slow lane going 50 or so ! .The left end of the sway bar is attached to the upper control arm (Mercedes don't use ' A-Frame' suspensions) by two hard rubber donuts , two washers and one bolt ~ apparently the bolt had worked loose and fell out , the sway bar was only in the control arm 1/2" Max. , had it popped all the way out things would have been very bad indeed .I was able to take the next exit and stopped in a petrol station , grabbed my flashlight and looked under the car and saw what you see in the photos except it was further apart ~ it slipped back into position @ home when I jacked up the car , blocked it and took off the wheel .I was far from some , drove *very* slowly to Shirley's house , let her off and called good old Tom Hansen (my white knight in shining armor) and left him a message I needed all six sway bar bushings , I plan to change the two on the firewall as long as I'm in there .This is a heavy job and I'd planned to let Victor struggle with it but as I was pre cleaning I thought about it and might tackle it my ownself , I have the tools (coil spring compressor etc.) and have so far done all the front suspension repairs on my old Metropolitan Nash that has ' killer ' coil springs , this Mercedes looks less dangerous .(Mets have super long and strong coil springs , if they slip off the compressor , they'll simply rip you head off , not good)I think I'll sleep on it and decide to - morrow or next week when my new parts arrive .I want to shampoo the entire under car as I haven't for a year or more , plus I noticed the front brake pads are getting thin so I asked Tom to toss new pads in the box along with bushings , washers and bolts .Maybe I can find the Mercedes E.P.C. again and get it to work on this computer , anyone have a link to it ? .-Nate
