Re: [diesel_mercedes] .1965 190 d needs fuel injector

One time my boy Jasper was driving my 59 190D to school and the car would just not go very fast. So he pulled over and took the air cleaner off and found it was plugged solid with mouse nest. Cleaned it out and he was back to 55hp. and zooming down the road.. Max

Before you go tearing it all apart and tossing $ at it , try the basics :

Valve adjustment , fuel filter(s) change and a Diesel Purge , using a big clear filter in the return line as you're purging it , you might be amazed at the amout of crud that gets caught by the filter .

Adding a bottle of Power Service Diesel Kleen to the fuel tank is wise too .

These are pretty simple engines and usually don't need many new parts ~ bad injectors would have you trailing clouds of black or gray exhaust smoke .

We think the fuel injector I'd bad because it won't go faster than 25 mph. Just had clutch work done. The shop I usually go to had a guy that rebuilt fuel injectors but he passed away. I can't just buy a replacement. I am in the Kansas City area. Anyone know anyone who might be able to rebuild a fuel injector? This is my first project car and I don't know what I am doing :p thanks for any input
