I also did this and was successful - but make sure you work in a warm place and disassemble in a plastic tub or similar - or picture you much like me at 3am picking up springs, copper clips and ball bearings from your kitchen floor. I cleaned everything with sandpaper, QTips and rubbing alcohol. Switches have worked flawlessly for last 5 yrs.
