[diesel_mercedes] Locks & Shaking

You're right on track with the fuel additives , be sure to keep a weather eye on the clear intake screen and clean it / change it as soon as it fills up with crud .

If the engine was covered in oily wet , the motor mounts will be soft but , it's far easier to change the tiny shock absorbers , they help a lot too .

Thanks, I forgot about the dealer plan.  I had blocked that because of the problems cited for late model key replacement.  I usually use a cocktail of Startron and a treatment with antigel etc additives from my local truck stop.

Do a Diesel Purge right after you've adjusted the valves and changed filters , _ALL_ of them  .

Take the reggie to the dealer (or better , to Tom @ M-B Classic Center) and buy two new keys , they'll fit perfectly .

Then if you later decide you like the car , you can buy a new original ignition lock cylinder that matches the rest of the locks and install it .

Just bought an 84 300D runs good but idles very rough any suggestions? I plan to change oils and filters and adjust the valves.  Anything else?  Also the PO loaned the car to a friend who lost the key.  Someone did a semi butcher job on the dash and installed a lock and replacement key.  These obviously don't fit the doors and trunk.  Any suggestions or does someone have a set of front door locks, a trunk lock and keys.  If the vacuum system worked, I'd only need a driver's door lock and a trunk lock for safety.  The car shuts off, but I don't know the condition of the rest of the vacuum system.
