Often the oil leaks out 12" or further from where it appears or where it drips off the engine ~ it'll follow seams , joints and evewn casting edges .
I like to clean the mess up and allow to dry then puff some talcum powder on the affected area and start it up , the talc will turn dark the instant the oil hits it and help locate the weep .
Hitting spilled oil or Diesel Fuel whilst riding a Moto is *very* exciting but never much fun .
