Re: [diesel_mercedes] Re: Uro Parts Blower Motor & Combo Switch for W123

Brushes, per se, don't cause or relate to the current draw of a motor.

The brushes should be replaced, if they are worn out.

But the current draw of a motor is directly related to the load on the motor.  For these motors, the accumulation of schmutz in the bearing may be a cause of load, and thus current draw.  A good cleaning of the entire structure, and a good lube of the motor bearings might be the most effective step in restoring motor efficiency.

(Of course, it is possible, even probable, that a modern motor design will be more efficient than the 30 year old designs of our 123 and 126 heater blowers.)

Thanks for the review, bobthevan, sounds promising, I definitely need to draw less amps, does it blow about the same amount of air as the original?

Now I see they are back as Uro Parts new around $90 at the usual places, autohausaz.com, rmeuropean.com, ebay.com, etc. I just ordered one for my 84 300D...hope they draw less amperage than the original. Will let you know how it works out if anyone is interested.

Also, I found that the new motor had a faint but clearly audible whine that the old motor never had. It's kind of annoying until I get up to speed and other noises drown it out. :-)
