If you go to Pep Boys etc. they sell retractable antennas that only requires a gentle hand to lower....
It's been a few years since some jackoff broke my antenna , when I moved to where I live now , I lost antennas daily off my cars , the '59 Ford pickup's original antenna hurt the most I think ~ he didn't take the mast , he just broke it over & left it laying against the windshield barely attached by a thread of metal .
There's no shortage of the correct plugs @ P-A-P , maybe Brian could get you one with the harness attached on both sides , then you could fix it correctly .
