Back in the early '80s, I had a '63 C10 pickup with a 292 in it, needed plugs went to FLAPS and got a set of Autolites. Got home, got wrenches, removed #1 plug, opened new Autolite box, plug had no threads on it. The part where threads should have been was simply a cylinder. All six of the plugs were the same. Back to FLAPS, pushed box 'o plugs across the counter, and explained earnestly that I was kind of new to auto mechanics, would the counter guy be nice enough to explain how to install plugs? Guy, clearly nonplussed, explained how to screw in plugs, removed one and looked at it. developed rare expression, shouted over shoulder, "Hey Jimmy, come here a minute!" Jimmy got same expression as the first guy. Ever helpful, I asked if these were supposed to clamp in, like old-style fuel injectors? Finally got a set of Champions, with threads on 'em, never touched any Autolite product in the 20 something years since. bk --- On Thu, 8/9/12, Nate <vwnate1@yahoo.com> wrote:
