It occurred to me later, that the manufacturer probably intends the solution to be basic pH=8 probably to compensate for acidity that any residual antifreeze may have (excess OH ions are produced when water is added). In addition, if the head gasket is marginal, an acidic flush might cause a breach (which is probably inevitable, anyway) but could be attributed to the flush and subject the manufacturer to liability.

Most commercially available citric acid is not produced from citrus, but I thought it might me interesting to know that the rind of citrus fruit can be used to remove toxic metal from the body (chelation agent). My apologies if the latter part was OT...just thought is was interesting, not procto-logical, admittedly.
