Hey, you want to work on this old car, maybe do a DIY paint job? Full article in LA Times today. Seems it sat in a garage for awhile. "A 1936 Mercedes-Benz 540K Special Roadster will be among those auctioned after the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance car show."

How much I like working on these old Mercedes' =8-) .
'Cause you know I'm going to be working on _something_ , might as well be a Vehicle I like .
Anyways , Off to Pick-A-Part this morning early looking for Toyota Camry parts , found and purchased them so I deceded to walk the rest of the yard & found only three lonely W-123's , two 240D's in VGC and one '82 300CD , also looked to have been nice when scrapped , no dents , shiny paint , nice upholstery etc.....
I was able to get the upper switch control panel out of the '81 240D , instead of wood veneer it had the nice black plastic that doesn't crack etc. , this is Std. in European cars but not in most No. American Market W-12's so I was pleased to find it , I got it for $2.99 and installed it into SWMBO's '82 240D and fixed the AC Temperature thumbwheel that got broke " somehow " a while back , then I replaced the fuel filter bolt's rubber o-ring and copper crush washer , let it idle a while while I tinkered with this 'n that , opened up the tool kit and added that missing 22MM wrench and some other factory tools too so now it's good to go , not a drip in sight , I'll give it a day or three then wash the engine compartment as the leaking Diesel fuel misted everything so now it has dust stuck everywhere .
I may go back to - morrow and grab the intake manifol I've been searching over two years for , we'll see how my back feels in the AM .
