Looks pretty thrashed.  Make sure the kid that had it didn't run unfiltered veg oil or do wacky stuff in order to run on same.   Hard to judge based on looks but on that alone, I would pass.

I'd say it's a $500 car _maximum_ as the front end appears to have been switched or or re painted once before this accident .

Unload the trunk and check for rust ,look up under neath the right front wheel well for rust damage around the sway bar hole , this is below the battery tray and can be repaired but is a problem .

Should be an easy fixer , just make sure he understand he'll to$$ more $ into it @ Pick-A-Part than it'll ever be worth and long distance driving in a 240D , is best done @ 60 ~ 65 MPH as faster beats up the engine badly .

I was looking at a wrecked (sideswiped) $500 240D to transplant the drivetrain out of into SWMBO's '82 240D but I don't have the energy .
