[diesel_mercedes] Re : Which bushing to choose for '80 300SD?

Trish ;

Tom @ The Classic Center isn't going to know what bushing you need because you're assembling a Franken-Benz there....

There's two you're looking at , one on the shift linkage and the other on the pressure control rod .

If I might offer a bit of friendly farm/junkyard/field repair advice :

Look closely at the hole and the pin or rod that goes through the hole , remember this and head out to Kragen/Schuck's/AutoZone etc. & look in the " HELP! " Aisle ~ they'll have all manner of blister packed clips , pins , door knobs , doo-dads and yes , bushings ~ you'll be wanting the hard kind , not the soft black rubber ones . clear plastic or nylon , a bronze one works well too .

Sometimes you can find a multi-pack of several similar items for less than two of the single ones , I spend some time looking through the selection , often on my knees on the floor .

IIRC , Pep-Boys has the biggest selection but each store has a different so go and look closely ,you might $ave some $eriou$ Lolly .

I recently re bushed the shift linkage in my Franken-Metropolitan Nash FHC (it has a 1980 Datsun B-210 " JATCO " M-35 Auto Tranny) with a sintered bronze GM door hinge single flange bushing..... it works a treat and was under $5 .

Just thinking outside the box a bit here as the sun sets &I dream of Donkeys running wild in your pasture .
