O.K. ;
Farm / Field / Okie Test :
look under the seats and find a paper clip , unbend it until you have two ends about 1/2" apart , put the tranny into Park and set the park brake FIRMLY , pop the hood and look for the black plastic 2" long box on the right inner fenderwell near the battery , it'll have _three_ screw connectors in it , fiddle with touching one end of the paper clip to the other two wires , in time you'll get a spark and the starter should begin cranking ~ if it does , BE CAREFUL as the engine will start and if the car is in gear it'll lurch and can KILL YOU .
If you get a spark (won't be much) but no crank , either the battery is dead or the starter solenoid is kaput ~ turn on the head lights and try again ~ if the headlights go out when you jumper the starter , the battery is dead .
If they just dim a little bit when you get the spark , your starter's solenoid is kaput .
Tom's W-126 has this fault and he isnstsed we repleace every other possible thing before it finally died 3,000 miles from home in a strange place , on a cold night.....
FOR GOD'S SAKE _don't_ tell enyone I know Farm / Bubba repairs & solutions !! =8-) .
What youre trying to do here is jumper one of the red wires , to the third wire to by pass the entire starter key and safety interlock system .
