Yes ;   The round filter is inside the pump , remove the lid & gently work off the clip and washer holding the spring , then dip your fingers down into the brown , gooey muck that's supposed to be ATF & lift it out  , I use a War Surplus Dental Pick to lift it out , drain the pump (I use a cheap turkey baster) & have a looksee , there's another resivoir underneath the filter , the worse crud will be there , especially in the hard to see & reach corners .   LINT FREE TOWELS ! .   Once clean , flush it until it's clean or you're broke , replace the filter , spring & washer , if the clip shatters , no worries , use a 6MM " Speed Nut " from your FLAPS or nothing but the washer , the lid will hold everything in place .   I hope this clarifies my earlier post .   -Nate
