Absolutely not so ! .
If you'd seen the rattletrap VW's I used to drag out of hedgerows , desert ditches and junkyards all across America then tinker back to life and never walk , you'd be amazed .
Although I'll prolly never go back , they were wonderful vehicles , dead simple and super cheap to keep running , you just had to do the _right_ , used parts or new , the devil is always in the details .
I used to patch - assemble engines from left over junk and never had even _one_ break or leak on me .
Simply MARVELOUS engineering and build quality , the problem begins when folks decide to do it differently than it was designed .
